What is a barcode?

Barcode is a graphical identifier that arranges multiple black bars and spaces of varying widths according to certain coding rules to express a set of information. A common bar code is a parallel line pattern composed of black bars (referred to as bars) and white bars (referred to as spaces) with large differences in reflectivity. Barcodes can mark many information such as the country of manufacture, manufacturer, product name, production date, book classification number, mail starting and ending place, category, date, etc., so they are widely used in many fields such as commodity circulation, book management, postal management, and banking systems. Barcode technology is an automatic identification technology developed in computer applications that is widely used in commerce, postal services, book management, warehousing, industrial production process control, transportation, packaging, distribution and other fields. It is composed of a group of strips, spaces and their corresponding characters arranged according to certain rules to represent an identification code for certain information.
